Reorganization and new products for electromobility

The EGELHOF Group is systematically continuing its market and product offensive for applications in the field of electromobility and is entering into a forward-looking partnership with the Chinese company TEMB. On 1 January 2025, the two companies founded a joint venture specialising in the development and production of valves and modules for electric vehicles.

Joint expertise for the future of e-mobility

The joint venture is called TEQ (TEMB-EGELHOF-Qufu) and is based in the city of Qufu in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong. It combines EGELHOF's expertise in refrigerants, which has been valued for decades, and TEMB's expertise in cooling water and sensor technology. ‘The product portfolios of both companies complement each other perfectly for the production of thermal modules for battery management in electric vehicles. In addition, the mindset of both family businesses has been a perfect match from day one of the collaboration,’ says Bettina Egelhof-Mülhaupt, Chairwoman of the Advisory Board of Otto Egelhof Familien GmbH & Co. KG and co-owner.

Important step towards becoming a system and module supplier

With this joint venture, the EGELHOF Group is taking another decisive step towards becoming a system and module supplier for electric vehicles. The Chinese partner also facilitates access to leading local manufacturers of electric vehicles.

‘We are currently developing another electronic expansion valve. Its price is orientated towards the needs of the Chinese market, but it will be sold worldwide. For the first time, we will have the entire value chain with stepper motor and electronics in our own hands. This valve completes our product portfolio in the favorable price segment alongside the established valve with shape memory drive. The new valve will be suitable for all refrigerants currently used in the automotive sector. Together with the cooling water components and p-T sensors from TEMB, we will be able to offer our customers high-quality components and complex modules with the usual EGELHOF quality,’ explains Dr Stephan Wild, CEO of the EGELHOF Group.

The start of production for TEQ and the new electronic expansion valve is planned for 2026. Joint sales activities have been underway since the beginning of 2024.

The establishment of the joint venture is a significant step in the EGELHOF Group's long-term e-mobility strategy and underlines the company's commitment to offering innovative and high-quality solutions for the electric vehicle industry.

In addition to the joint venture in China, EGELHOF is currently establishing two further production companies in Mexico and Poland to improve customer proximity and increase cost efficiency.
