EGELHOF establishes Joint Ventures in China

Fellbach/Qufu, October 10, 2024

Egelhof International GmbH, a leading global manufacturer of refrigerant valves and components, has founded a Joint Venture with the Chinese automotive supplier TEMB. The new company, TEMB-EGELHOF-QUFU (TEQ for short), will be based in Qufu, Shandong Province, and will focus on the production and distribution of electronic valves for the Chinese e-mobility market. The official launch of TEQ is planned for January 1,2025.

This is a significant milestone in our 2030 strategy. China is the global driver of e-mobility, and with TEQ we are strategically optimally positioned to tap into this growth market,’ says Dr Stephan Wild, Chief Executive Officer of the EGELHOF Group.

Technology partnership for the future of e-mobility

TEQ combines the expertise of two renowned companies: TEMB, a specialist in cooling water technologies, and EGELHOF, known for its expertise in the development and production of high-quality electronic refrigerant valves. The new Joint Venture will develop innovative electronic valves specifically for the needs of Chinese automobile manufacturers (OEMs) and thus make a decisive contribution to the further development of e-mobility in China.

”With this partnership, we are focusing on fast and stable solutions for the thermal control of electric vehicles. Our aim is to anchor our electronic valves in the thermal modules of the future.”, explained Dr Stephan Wild. EGELHOF has been investing heavily in the development of high-quality electronic refrigerant valves for several years now. To further develop the existing valve portfolio, EGELHOF has established a separate division focusing on the development of thermal management modules. A partial result of this initiative is the Joint Venture that has been established.

Successful negotiations and strong partners

The foundation of TEQ was officially signed on October 10, 2024 after more than a year of intensive talks and negotiations. Members of the owner families and representatives of both companies as well as the local government were present at the ceremony in Qufu.

EGELHOF subsidiary ERS remains independent

While TEQ will concentrate on the Chinese market, the existing subsidiary Egelhof Regelungstechnik (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. will remain independent and continue to be responsible for supporting the EGELHOF Group's international customers in China. Both companies will co-operate closely in order to coordinate market and customer support in the best possible way.

A strategic step for sustainable success

With the founding of TEQ, EGELHOF has secured a strategic partnership in the world's most dynamic market. The demand for electric cars is growing rapidly in China in particular, making it a strategically important market for e-mobility. For EGELHOF, TEMB is the ideal complementary partner with experience in the field of cooling water components for thermal management modules and is already established in the Chinese market.

“We are proud to launch such a forward-looking initiative together with TEMB. The foundation of TEQ is an important step for us on the way to a successful future in the field of e-mobility.”, added Bettina Egelhof-Mülhaupt, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Otto Egelhof Familien GmbH & Co. KG and co-owner.
